Thread: Supercub.org going up for sale?

    Supercub.org going up for sale?

I heard Steve is selling Supercub.org, due to time constraints. Does anyone know who's taking it over? Is it really going to be CC? Any chance someone will come up with a competing bid, so we can keep it more like it is?

If I hear something from someone that I can't support with fact or personal knowledge, I don't repeat it, as it is just gossip until I determine otherwise. If I'm interested in the validity, I go to the source.

Really, a poll on something you can't verify? Sounds like the media.

    Unless I'm missing some joke.

I just got off the phone with SJ and yes, SC.org HAS been sold... The buyer is apparently Nigerian royalty looking to invest rebel money in the US... SJ convinced him that SC.org is a profitable enterprise and SJ is looking to advance his Mooney webpage... The Nigerian has promised to make the SC.org changes relatively transparent so that we won't see immediate changes...

On another note, SJ hopes that all of us will move over to his new site... Mooney.org was already spoken for, so SJ has gone with www.MooneyMoney.org to better reflect why he is in the business...

Rookie, that was a pretty good one. You even had me going (I thought maybe Dana had secretly advertised in Trade-a-Plane or something)

Fact is, I have never thought about selling it - particularly to another commercial entity. But, that does not mean some day when I get worn down by the recalcitrant webservers, the avatar creating, the fly-in insurance issues, and the constant effort to juggle keeping things afloat that I would not consider it.

My dream would be to someday (when I am older and more decrepit) see a 501C3 non-prof formed around this group, that could take it beyond my useful life. I hope they would accept me as a member! This has ALWAYS been my hope for supercub.org.

Actually (and this is no April Fool's joke) this website and forum has so dramatically exceeded any expectations I had for it that it still amazes me. Is it because of me? NO. It is because of all of YOU. I am just here running interference and occasionally asking a stupid question or two. We have an amazing group of folks here. There is a lot we disagree on, but the focus on the love of the kind of flying the supercub (and a few others) gives us is what makes us all unique, and unified.

Hope you had a fun April 1. I was gotch'ed more than once. It is the day when those people who never crack a smile for the other 364 days a year seem to bust loose...
