Have you had a chance to read February's issue of AOPA Pilot? Mike Vivion had a great article in it, complete with pictures.
Thanks, Mike - I really enjoyed reading it!

Baloney is still baloney, no matter how thin you slice it.
Saw it today while in Barnes and Noble... Well written. Good job, Mike.

Are those german made wheel-ski's in the article available in the US? Where and how much?
Ground Loop,
The skis are Rosti Fernandez 8001 skis, manufactured by Thomas Dietrich, in Germany. They are similar in design, but quite different than the old Fernandez wheel skis that were pretty common in southcentral Alaska some years ago.
Thomas is working on a German STC for the Cub. There are a number of his skis installed on Cubs in Germany as is. There are several of those in the lead photos, by the way, of this site. Look carefully at the photos of airplanes on glaciers. There is a joint agreement between Germany and the US when it comes to STC's. Theoretically, a German STC should be "approved data" as I understand it, in this country.
