    4130 Sheet Shortage?

Went to order some 4130 sheet today and according to Wicks and A/C Spruce the company that manufacrtured it went out of buisiness and they are out and don't know when they can get anymore. Found some at good old Airparts Inc. in Kansas City. Maybe S.J. can go over and buy it all up. Anybody know anymore about this?

Try Dillsburg Aeroplane in PA 717-432-4589. They will beat Wicks and Aircraft Spruce on price, in my experience. Jim

    Have you checked Dillsburg?

Have you tried Earl M. Jorgenson? There is one in Dallas.
Last time I ordered from A/C Spruce it came in an EMJ wrapper.
Might as well cut out the middle man, if you can.

If all else fails you might have to use 4130 Annealed. By the time you get done welding (gas) it basically ends Normalized. There was a lot of discussion about this a couple months ago, in the Bearhawk Group on Yahoo. Last time I talked to Dillsburg they were trying to get a new off-shore source for 4130N. About all they had left in sheet was 4130A.

The guys at Air Tractor told a few months ago that N was no longer gonna be available. I use it for the doors and stuff on the Piper fuselages. I'm sure they used mild steel so annealed probably won't matter especially after breaking and welding.
