    Ground Loop Survey

I've been there. With about 400 hours of tail wheel time, I was flying my Stearman around the country on the ultimate summer vacation. Landed in all 48 states and the furthest airport to the north, south, east, and west. A GREAT trip!! But I digress. Then came Broadus, MT. Beautiful day, three...

cuffs for lift struts on PA12

Marty and Josh thanks for the quick reply. I might spend a few man hours to try to form them, and if I get frustrated just leave them off. Does anyone have any up close pictures of them? Mike

cuffs for lift struts on PA12

I'm not sure where I should post this, so I tried this section. I have a stock PA12, and am in the middle of a recover project. When I bought the airplane it did not have the cuffs for the lift struts, up against the bottom of the wing surface. It did have the cuffs for the jury struts. So, I...

    Elongated wing attach fittings

I am in the middle of a PA-12 recover, and got around to inspecting the Spar Butt Hinge Bushings, and the Fuselage Wing Attach Fittings today. The hinge bushings appear to be fine, with no slop or play at all. Is it recommended to go ahead and press them out and replace them anyway, or just...

    PA-12 Fuel Tank

utb 44E- I just removed a set from my PA-12 to install the Dakota tanks. Both were in good shape as removed. One was a "tern plate" and one was aluminum (I think). If interested, PM me and we can get details. Mike

recovering a gear with the Long Step.

I am in the midst of a recover, and will be installing the AD Long Step on my PA-12. Just wanted to hear opinions, am I better off to recover the gear, then cut a slit to install the step?, Or, install the step, and try to recover around it? Mike

    PA-12 upper baggage area

I am in the midst of the restoration on the PA-12, and want more upper baggage area. I found several referneces to "installing the PA-14 deck" as being the way to go, but don't know what that really means. Does anyone have pictures? If not, can you steer me towards some? Mike

    cross brace mod for PA-12

I have seen several recommendations to install the "X" cross brace in the overhead above the pilot. I also want to install the skylight as well during this restoration. Can you do both? Does anyone have any pictures of the skylight installation with the cross brace? Mike

PA-12 Mod details for a new owner

I got my PA-12 home this week! It flew home, but is going into the rebuild/recover process right away. I am looking for some specific advise on a few mods. I've done a search on this website for all of these questions, but can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for. I am in Texas, so the...

Looking for advice for PA-12 newbie

Kevin & Tom (COFlyer)- thanks for the great response...that was exactly what I was looking for. I live in the DFW, Texas area....so there are no float or ski considerations! I plan on keeping it for at least 10+ years, and am buying it to learn how to recover......to teach my college aged...

Looking for advice for PA-12 newbie

Tim- I agree entirely about the economics side of it! Part of this PA-12 project for me is going to be the fun/experience of the recover or rebuild. I am fortunate to have a very experienced IA on the payroll who will be lead on the project, with me providing the cheap labor! Luckily I own a...

Looking for advice for PA-12 newbie

I am a new member to SuperCub, and am looking for advice. I am purchasing a PA-12, and plan on recovering it right afterwards. I have looked over most of the PA-12 posts on here regarding mods, but what I am looking for is advice as to what mods I need to do now (at the recover), or might regret...
