What a great idea. My cub has stick and ball and the RV8 only has turn coordinator to get me down through the layer or turned around if the scud turns into real estate.
Thanks Bill.
The local law knows my number. I have searched for floaters in a local lake (drowning victim).
I did a search for a kid that had a wreck on a road at night and didn't know where she was and...
You might tell her that you would like her help deciding if you wanted the extra expense of leather seats in the new Carbon Cub you are considering buying or .....just get a set of bushwheels for the...
Looks like a combination of momentary significant forward stick just as the wheels touch. The elevator deflects sharply downward at touchdown. Probably created some momentum that couldn't be...
No wind, solo, half tanks I am usually airborne in 250 without popping off with the flaps. Light PA18 125.....i always 'try hard' when I take off.
Remember to file a flight plan. It will look better on the investigation report.
.....would 'site of accident' be appropriate in the destination box??? :)
I landed in a ravine with a slight tailwind in a pasture this morning and paced it off in the dewy grass ..85 paces...a little over 250'. I turned around and took off in slightly less distance, so I...
I still like the runway light method. When someone around the campfire brags about their 120' takeoff you can modify your results for the next story.
I used the light method for my RV8 a couple...
Runway lights are 200' apart in the U.S. ...you should be able to get pretty darn close by gauging from the light spacing.
Put a stuffed roadrunner below a tree and balance a anvil on a limb tied to aforementioned roadrunner with a string...
I saw this work countless times as a kid on Saturday mornings.
Very cool. I am guessing the vapor surrounding the shuttle at around 680 mph was the bird punching through the sound barrier??
She really gets to cookin' over 1000 mph!!
Might try masking tape around suspected culprits until the noise goes away.
Thanks Greg, glad your experience granted you the favor to fly another day.
I didn't see/can't tell by the pic if this Cub had VG's. ?? By the description of the stall I am guessing it did not.
My cub would roll off on a wing while stalled before I put the micro's on,...
On the EGT readings?? What are the horizontal white lines above the green bars for each cylinder. Seems like the engine could have been leaned a bit more to see lower fuel flows.
Pretty darned...
My light PA 18 125 liked to drop off on a wing at the stall before the VG's. Now it just hangs there in a mush.
You can get it to break if you are aggressive but recovery is instant. I put...
I had a RV6, had a Skyhawk now have a Supercub and a RV8. If I could only have one airplane it would be the Cub.
The RV is fun and fast but there is something about a Cub that is special.
My...
I would sell the Skyhawk to buy the 170 before i would sell the Cub.
If you need to downsize perhaps renting a Skyhawk when needed would make more sense.

oldpilot lives in Pocatello and is a AP. He's one of the good guys.
Tape a string on the windscreen.
Not only at Reno but at every other airshow. We race IMCA modifieds and are required to sign a waiver if buying a pit pass. The regular spectators are somewhat protected, depending on the race...
Nice article, I esp. like the crashing in town part :)
I spend 6 months of the year low and slow over pastures checking cattle. We ranch and have over a dozen pastures scattered over 40 miles so the Cub is a great pickup truck and cuts down a all day...
I noticed the 'lurch' when landing at first with the 26's esp if the landing was firm. I don't even notice it now....i wore out one set of goodyears and have a hundred hours on the new ones and...
