If you push the flaps down the cables go all loose. The springs stop them getting tangled in stuff.

The AR-7/1A2 thing isn't a big deal as the TCDS states if its not on ag work you use 1A2 even if it says AR-7 on the data plate. Refer AR-7 Note 3(c).
