Bugs,
Did you rib stitch or pop rivet the fabric to the flanged D & E ribs?
I haven't been keen on running the rib stitching past the edge on a flanged rib, so all the Univair ones I have used...
Glenn,
You always write neat stories.
Andrew.
Jim,
You can do what you describe, I am doing just that except I am using some stocks of Piper T-section and W-section that I have. I don't know what I will do when I run out; I have a few ideas,...
Heck, I wish I could be as focussed as that!
I was wondering if the floats were what made it reluctant to spin. With all that mass down low, there must be a pendulum effect. What entry speed and technique were you using?
I have spun my...
Peter,
Have you spun it while equipped with wheels (not floats)?
Thanks,
Andrew.

Here is a thread about empty weight for PA-18-95’s. You can get them under 800 lbs if stock. ...
It is difficult to couch a response to your question without sounding like bagging the Bearhawk. But a couple of things worth considering and thinking about:
1. How many different Patrol LSA's are...
Can anyone confirm that the front spar splice plates are 1/8" thick?
And have the same rivet spacing as the rear spar plates?
Thanks,
Andrew.
Pick the material you prefer to work in / what tools you have.
Timber for the spars is difficult to come across, but it is not insurmountable.
I don't like the idea of an all wood wing, because...
An off the cuff response would be that the 18A cable is asymmetric but the straight 18 cable set up is symmetrical.

I have used that tropical wood ply like meranti or okume for Cub floors. It is very splitty and unless you have good sharp tools and are experienced in working the material you will end up having to...
Bill,
Have you thought of doing the seat back RV-style? The RV design seems very simple and light and I believe could be adapted to the rear seat in a Cub.
Andrew.
The Piper ribs have the same "discrepancy" as the Dakota rib shown in Jim's picture. I am elbow deep in new Piper rib nose repair sections and second hand ribs at the moment and they are all like...
Yeah, I dug out the SL and read it last night and it's pretty irrelevant to the discussion here.
Andrew.
There is a Piper Service Letter about putting Ceconite on all their models. Or at least the common ones like the PA-18 and PA-25 (I don't have it handy). That makes it legal even if it came out of...
I wonder what they were in......
Binty,
I've pulled out some new springs and looked carefully at your pictures and I think you are alright. Your springs look to be the correct length. Thinking about it, the cable will...
If you push the flaps down the cables go all loose. The springs stop them getting tangled in stuff.
Andrew.
Springs are too short.......

I have genuine Piper springs.
Andrew.
This is what I understand about them:
The TCDS for the O-240 shows the weight to be right up there with the O-320. They are really just O-200's with IO-360 cylinders. So, the poor little O-200...
Steve Pierce has, on a Smith Cub if I recall correctly. He has posted here about it and may have photos in his web photo album.
Andrew.
The AR-7/1A2 thing isn't a big deal as the TCDS states if its not on ag work you use 1A2 even if it says AR-7 on the data plate. Refer AR-7 Note 3(c).
