It depends on which category you are operating under. "Normal", "Utility" or "Restricted".
Not sure exactly what you mean. It is a way of "getting on the step" by reducing drag when there isn't enough power to do it alone. In Nimpo's case with an 0-320 and a flat prop, it may not work.
I had an elevator trim tab get loose once and boy did it flap. Use your imagination. What happens when the tab goes full up followed by full down very rapidly? The whole plane flaps, not to stop...
I totally agree with SB.
Nimpo, If you were able to cruise at a faster speed your stabilizer would be higher at the leading edge. Mine cruises at 115+/- at 2500 rpm and 22" with a 0-360 and the...
44.100 = 0.265 / 4.640
31.500 = 0.246 / 6.760
Yes, It is 37.800.
Your prop is too flat. You should be able to indicate 110 mph at 2700. What is your CG under the conditions which you describe? Somewhere around 17" -18" should work nicely.
This is from Piper drawing 13814 from the Northland CD.
Leading edge = 1.77
9.450 = 0.000 / 6.920
12.600 = 0.031 / 7.390
25.200 = 0.176 / 7.480
37.800 = 0.283 / 5.770
50.400 = 0.220 / 3.290...

You should look at a new oil screen gasket. Those four holes are not square, just to prevent the error which you are suggesting. Lycoming did do it right. Something does not sound right here. If the...
Which is heavier Bill? Tyvec or Ceconite? ;-)
Rene,
Seaworthy and I are thinking about flying to Crow Island soon. My restrictions are flown off, so I'm anxious to test out Bill's seaplane puddle. We could compare baffles there.
Rene, Do you have a four cylinder CHT installed? If so, your temperatures should always be less than 400 degrees. The middle 300s are better. If your temps are higher, you should look carefully at...
Mike, any reason not to lower the back legs 3/4" for some of us height challenged pilots? Same result.
Lowrider, You are correct, Tyvec is tuff stuff. Why don't you make a test panel? Throw things at it, see how well it takes abuse, see how well the paint stands up. Perhaps you are on to something?...
Yes, that is the plate. It doesn't seem to do any harm by leaving it out. It may even help cool the oil a bit.
Bill,
I agree with Darrel. The cheek openings on mine are 2-5/8". I can feel the heat by placing my hand on the inside of the fabric next to the door (no interior). I also left out the baffle which...
The difference is the main gear fittings. The rest is the same.
Stitch, What size are you? If you are a big man, you may not be comfortable in a Cub. I know, heresy here, but a Scout does have more room in it. I installed the first Scout in New England on floats....
I know of a Super Cub accident in which the pilot was impaled by the stick. He was also wrapped with the hopper which was where the back seat usually is located.
I also know of a Stearman which...
Using the calculator http://www.onlinemetals.com/calculator.cfm and making a wild guess as to how much material is in one rib, I'm guessing, that using 0.016" 6061-T3, one rib should weigh perhaps...
That looks great gsmx440. You seem to have the procedure down. Can you get 6061-T3? That should work easier.
This is a bead roller. You can make dies of most any shape that will fit on it. If you have the desire to build your own ribs you could get some light weight sheet aluminum and make your own. These...
This is just a guess. The first couple of years after "the war" all of the factories were still in the "mass production" mode. So, they were building airplanes to meet all of the expected demand...
