Got a recent quote for a PA-18 using the Stewarts System up through paint at around $3,200.00 for all the materials.
Think Oratex is about $67.00 per yard. Figure 45 to 50 yards to cover a Cub...

Becker 4201 installed in 2004. Works great! I'll buy another one.

Airframes new gear is what you want. Way cool!

If you're flying in the winter (cold), I'd go with the ETX36D. Same cranking amps as a PC680 but 12lbs lighter. Fits in the same mount as the PC680 just shorter.
The ETX24D has 420 pulse amps...
Lots of good info on this thread! Exp is the way to go.
Thanks for the parts sources..
Greg
Funny you should say that. Got a call last week for "a survey". It turned out it was a survey about flight service stations as contracted by the FAA. At the end of the survey I was asked "what...
A 406ELT is a must have.
After that I'd get a Delorme Inreach. In April they're launching a new one with built in keypad so you don't need a smart phone to send text massages.
At $9.95 per...
I put overhead trim in my PA-14 with two doors. Worked great. Javron makes a kit with all the parts (bottom of the web page). Uses a standard PA-18 trim cable.

Yes, the most expensive truck I owned (still own) is a Chevy. Fuel pump in the gas tank went out (on going Chevy problem for years) about 40K miles. Transfer encoder motor went out twice. Finally...
Thanks for the reply. What is it you don't like about the Eco Boost Ford? Anyone else not like them? Like I said, my Tundra has served me well. Best truck I've owned so far but was impressed with...
Driving a late model Toyota Tundra 5.7. Great truck, no problems so far.
But if I were looking today, I'd take a serious look at the Eco Boost Ford F-150. Nice make over to the body in '09 and...
The difference between a PA-12 and PA-18 incident is about 1 degree.
Putting a smart level on my spar attach fittings, you only have to raise the level 1/2" to add one degree of additional...
Not doing anything too crazy on this one. Basic original Piper wings rebuilt to new condition. Clean original '77 PA-18 fuselage, flat floor, single control, TI fire wall, carbon fiber engine cowl,...

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if the guys doing this mod took the tail into account. My feeling is if you're going to change the wing you need to also need to look at the tail.
A...
Dave, what do you do with the trim range when changing wing incident?
Take care,
Greg
Really enjoyed his fishing pictures. Made a lot of great posts. Met him once with Christina some years back in Kotzebue. Really sorry to hear this news.
Rest in Peace Don.

Doing a great job Bill. Thanks for posting the tips.
Greg
Thanks for the clarification.
He puts this plane on floats, although the 1,350 lbs was EW on wheels, but I changed my post to reflect a legal PA-18 GW on wheels.
Take care,
Greg
Might want to read this thread. http://www.supercub.org/forum/showthread.php?44024-Another-Light-Weight-Battery-Option
I don't think I'd want the mount a 15lb block of lead that far forward in...
The problem often over looked with a bigger engine like an O-320 / O-340 in an LSA is fuel burn. To make the plane useful it has to have a decent range.
This is a problem the Carbon Cub had in...
Looks like the Ballistic needs a special balancing charger ( http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/Charger/charger.php ) like the Shoria battery. This would require an occasional "topping up" on...
I looked into having them made. Believe me, Cub Crafters is doing us a favor.
I couldn't find a way to have the small amount needed to do one Cub, custom made, for just $250.00. Not to mention...
Hi Dave
Have you done this mod and do you have some type of jig to get it right? Also what do you do to get the windshield to fit?
Working on a fuselage now and have considered this mod. I...
I would not even think about cutting and profiling all the tubes required (having done a bunch of it) with these tubing kits out....
