Yes I rib stitched. The flanges have a bevel so you can. Also the D&E wing does not have the half ribs like Piper. Less parts mean less weight.

Has anyone weighed a D&E stamped rib? I wish I would have weighed one of mine. They sure seemed light to me but had nothing to compare to. All this talk of extreme weight saving wasn't around when I...
Hey Lowrider, great meeting you and visiting with the Sandpoint Chapter! Look forward to seeing your project in person soon.
Sounds like a good plan Jim! Here is some eye candy for motivation:

Nice looking plane! Congrats to Cruzair! Those amphibs are not in production anymore are they? A pirep would be great.
Hi Marty, I have posted all your wood wing and related drawings on my web site: www.supercubproject.com/links.aspx
Thanks for sharing with everyone! :)
Interesting Bill, thanks for the info. I have 44 gal usable in my Cub and am glad I do. You don't have to fill the tanks if you don't want to but is really nice to have the extra capacity without...
Excellent photos and info Bill! Those of us who could not attend sure appreciate it.
A better comparison with O-360 and metal prop would be with the McCauley 1P235 84/43. That is the sweet spot for metal props on O-360. I don't know of many using a 80/44 combo. Also my 84/43 prop is...
Cub Crafters STC as far as I know for certified guys. Lots of discussion here in past if you give the search a try.
Most Cub guys I have come across like the extended gear, 3" or more. I have 3" on mine and with the ABW's it gives me what I want for clearance with 84" prop. What size prop will you run? If you...
Sounds like some great projects here! You might consider the Taylorcraft airfoil if not looking for best STOL. Has better performance in cruise at a slight loss in low speed. D&E sells the...
I have only used Super Clean on engines and greasy parts and works great. Except when I tried on a motorcycle engine it started to change colors of some aluminum. I think if you are quick to wash...
Agreed, that is why I specifically said mogas.
DW, be careful on Super Clean, it can attack aluminum. I believe that is why Simple Green came out with their "aviation" product to be friendly.
The PC680 spins my O-360 like a toy. I have B&C starter.
Also Simple Green "Aircraft" works great for me. If you use mogas don't really want smelly rag of that.

We have a FSDO on field. You know the old saying, don't get mad, get even.
Hope this doesn't mean ramp checks become the norm at my airport now:

Here's a set on eBay:...
Yes, I am based at Felts. The tower is sort of like family around here so they will be missed. OTH, I look forward to using the turf runway more often.
Spokane Felts Field (KSFF) tower is to be closed.
I vote for IFlyLower to be on T-shirt committee! ;)
Catto offers the Vans 12" spinner. Probably a lot cheaper unless you already have one.
Pretty interesting! Has the right sound now too. ;) Watch out CC Carbon Cub.
I have stamped ribs and stitched them.
