    North East Summer Fun

Heads up for anyone flying around the Whites these coming weekends: Oct 6 - 15 a bunch of gliders will be congregating at Gorham and flying in wave over Mount Washington. Notably, they will be using 123.3 instead of 122.8 at Gorham and a right traffic pattern for runway 30. It's an annual...

    North East Winter Fun 22/23

Is there any chance the fly in could shift to Sunday? The weather looks better.

    North East Winter Fun 22/23

Anyone going to Bowman or Bald Mountain (Maine) Saturday? How thick is the ice on Mooselookmeguntic Lake? We are thinking of hitting Bowman first and then Bald Mountain.

Should I buy a 2nd plane- " fast family hauler"

If your wife is interested in flying, then definitely get something you can use to fly the whole family. We got a 4 place Bearhawk when our kid was born and haven't regretted it. Theoretically it doesn't get in and out as short as the Cubs, but it gets into almost all the fun places in the north...

I also heard about a lunch at Island Bob's Saturday. Is there both a breakfast and a lunch? Emilie

    North East Winter Fun 21/22

Are ski-planes (or snowmobiles) allowed on Saddleback Lake in Maine? We are considering flying up Saturday and going cross country skiing on the adjacent Rangeley Lakes Trails Center. -- Emilie

    North East Summer fun 2021

I hope people post pictures from the STOL event this weekend. The engine oil in our Bearhawk is overheating, so we will be stuck in the hangar diagnosing it.

    Hangar Door Insulation

Definitely agreed on insulation paying for itself. Our door is the size of the wall, so it's a huge area. How did you seal the gaps around the door? Just by installing it straight, or is there something else I need to do? As I recollect, the bottom is supposed to have a rubber gasket. I don't...

    Hangar Door Insulation

That white paint looks better than I thought it would to paint over spray foam. I'll see if I can figure out more on what's required for fire code in a detached garage.

    Hangar Door Insulation

Did you use the urethane because it was cheaper than filing the bays with spray foam, or some other reason?

    Hangar Door Insulation

I am getting a 58'x14' bifold door installed on my new hangar. The rest of the hangar is nicely insulated. What have people used to insulate your hangar door? In previous threads, I saw suggestions for spray foam. My contractor says fire code requires a 15 minute fire barrier over any foam...

We used these www.earmuffsforkids.com The elastic one fit well when our kid was a baby, and the folding one fit when he got older.

I'm several weeks late, but I've uploaded our pictures from the Cub Crafters STOL competition at Basin Harbor: https://j3.org/2018/06/album-parlin-breakfast-and-basin-harbor-stol-competition/ As usual, PM me if you want a photo higher resolution.

    NE Summer Fun

I made it to Old Town, Bangor, Griffin, Dover, Dexter, Pittsfield, and Central Maine. I probably should have quit after Dexter, but I didn't realize how tired I was until part way to Pittsfield. Then it turned out Pittsfield only has public gas when attended. Emilie
