I always knew there was a fortune to be made from an aeroplane forum.

Take out the dipstick then fit a short length of plastic pipe to the breather tube. Blow through the plastic pipe, there should be no resistance. Partially blocked breathers cause all sorts of problems. I have seen them blocked in the middle but it is impossible to spot visually.

I find it amazing that anyone rents seaplanes. Here in OZ, I doubt there is a seaplane in the country that is available for rent. You fly em for a job or you don't fly them at all in Oz, unless of course you own your own.

The Rotax hand starts ok apparently, one got away here in Aus after being hand propped, there is a video on youtube somewhere. The Jabirus, I doubt it is possible, the ignition needs about 200 RPM to generate a spark and if the battery is weak on the ones I operate they will spin over fine but...

I am considering the Rotax and have a few hours behind one. I will admit having trouble getting my head around the choke, the slow warmup time and the clunk on shutdown. The price is also rather high. That said, for the weight alone they are still on the list but I would far prefer a Lyconsauris...
