I maintain the first CC18 Top Cub. It did the same thing at about 500 hrs. when the owner was leaving my place. Was able to clip that strand and manipulate the section to the middle of the system where it didn't go around the small pulley 180 degrees. It last till the annual inspection where I changed the cable. Have seen a lot of the newer trim cables come unraveled prematurely in recent years. I get mine from Tony Cesare wbav@beeline-online.net and have had no issues with his cables.
