Mr. Dannenberg's Monocub intake question????

I have noticed that Paul Dannenberg's beautiful "Monocub" is powered by a 0-290 and it does not have a carb intake scoop on the bottom cowl. On another photo of the plane I have noticed small aluminum scoops situated on the inside of the nose bowl intakes. My question: Is Mr. Dannenbergs Monocub fuel injected? or carbureted? If it is carbureted how is the carb induction setup? It truly does make for a clean nose profile! Thanks guys!

I don't know about the plane you're asking about but the first PA 12's had the air filter in the left front engine baffle and used a hose to get down to the carb heat box and muffler I suppose. I saw this in a parts manual that came with mine.

Do you have the Sport Aerobatics magazine article about the Monocub?

Andrew.

No I have not seen that article. After looking at pa-12's I now notice that some have the flat bottom cowl. I can't find any pictures of the induction setup.

Here are a couple of pic's from my parts manual. Looks like they used flexible aluminum tubing to route air.IMG_3632.JPGIMG_3633.JPG

Thanks for posting those Darrel. I have never seen the airplane in person but read a couple of articles about it. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. His dad has built numerous show winners. Those guys are machinists in there day job.

The cast rudder pedals you see in the interior shots are custom made and offered in the aircraft spruce catalog.
