Just finishing my long awaited engine overhaul, happened to notice edo 2000 floats available in classifieds. Contacted current owner and committed to buying floats. Now my mechanic ( not really a cub guy but has kept me flying for nearly 40 years through 13 different planes) mentioned that edo 2000's are only eligible on pa18 150s and pa18 150as models and that I should research so as not to step in the dogs__t. Floats come with a set of bolt on float fittings and I am ready for some minor paperwork. Is there a relatively sure path to accomplish this in the 48 state area? The floats will be installed in FL by a recommended fellow, however are there unseen rocks and shoals in this process?

Once you put your PA18-150 on floats it is a PA18s-150. From the type certificate:

IV. -Model PA-18S "150" and PA-18AS "150", 2 PCSM (Normal Category only), Approved October 1, 1954

Models PA-18S "150" and PA-18AS "150" same as corresponding models PA-18 "150" and PA-18A "150" except landinggear.
