Well, I'm not welding with any other process again!!
I just got myself a Miller Dynasty 200 DX and started running some practice beads, I have only worked with stick and oxy/acetylene before.
What a world of difference!!
The foundation I had with gas welding certainly contributed to the ease of picking up TIG, the puddle control and filler rotation is very similar, but I am absolutely amazed at how controllable and aesthetic the TIG is!
I couldn't believe the small arc at first, I was expecting some pyrotechnics on the scale I'm familiar with, nothing! Just a cute little arc with a molten puddle at the end! Really unbelievable!
If I had to compare the processes to anything, I would say TIG is a Zippo lighter compared to Oxy/Acetylene, which now, is akin to making fire by rubbing sticks together.
Man! You can weld in your smart business attire (I might just do that, simply because I can), create a weld that looks beautiful and is structurally flawless.
The only drawback is cost, but seeing as that money is spent now, I'm a 100% convert.
Cheers
