What is the preferred tailwheel spring for Cub Tension or Compression?

Thanks

Jim,

I don't know about everyone else, but I use compression springs. Breaking one is much less an issue. A broken tension spring can make life very :o interesting!

Been there, Done that in a BC12. (Broken tension spring) My buddy was behind me in a c177 on final and after I departed the runway into the grass where I preformed a perfect 180, he said "ummm, you all right?" I then replied, "I think I will just park it here for now." :o Then someone laughed over the Unicom from in the FBO. A little safety wire later and we were dropped off the Cardinal and flew the BC home. Compression springs were then installed.

I will take your advise on that. Besides the safety issue I read about the increased wear of the lower rudder bushing.
