sorry missed thread.. was out camping....

I will try to sketch up my thoughts and post...

based on the aileron set up on a 1929 fairchild with folding wings... hard to see in this picture, right in front of rear wing attach, but wing and fuselage both have pivot blocks that share the same rotating point...

but would be below left cub door with both throttle handles in original location in door...

and you may want some handle attached to the link that stays functional in front of door, for when door is open

this was what i was going to use on the 12, but since the hinge is on top of the door was going to add more linkage steps.. then I settled on my other plan for that...

Looks like it would work Mike but, how do you control the engine when you have dropped the door to be able to see better while taxing among the rocks to the beach while on floats with the wind blowing???

there would need to be a knob in front of door also if you want to use it with door open...(something like, but smaller than shown bellow, since it would rarely be needed..
