Oil Temperature

I have a Wagaero Clipped Wing Cub with a Continental C-85-12.
Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on oil temp.
The TCM manual states 150 - 200 is normal w/ 225 as max.
Mine usually runs in the 185 - 190 range on an 80 degree day.
I have been told a million different things, just looking to confuse myself some more! :drinking:

Thanks.

Bernard,

Ideally, every aircraft engine SHOULD reach an oil temp of about 180 to 190 on each flight, to ensure that moisture entrained in the oil will cook off.

So, I'd say if that is your normal oil temp you are doing just great.

Even if it were to approach the red line on a really hot day in a steep extended climb, but then stabilize in cruise at 200 or so, I'd still be pretty happy if twas me.
