If anyone is looking for a cheap tig welder take a look at Harbor freight item 91811. It is a DC only (welds only steel) non HF (must touch electrode to start). I read a few positive comments on some web forums and bought one a few days ago. A engineer friend of mine hooked it up to his Miller rig and was pleasantly surprised at how good it welded. The entire outfit was $199 on sale at Harbor freight stores. You can download a owners manual from HF website. It is rated at 130 amps and he was welding 1/8 steel with it set for about 50 to 60% max output.
