Where is a good propeller shop in the North Alabama area to have a Sensenich 76AK-2 re-pitched and repaired (FedEx ground dropped it in shipment).

We've done business with Memphis Propeller and like their service.

I sent mine to Jim Fix after having a local prop shop do it and getting a vibration.

I sent mine to Jim Fix after having a local prop shop do it and getting a vibration.I second Jim Fix.
I had Jim do two O-320 props and he was excellent.

About how much should I expect to pay for straightening the tip on one side and re-pitching? I'm in contact with the guy I bought it from out of Canada and he's the one to deal with FedEx.

I just got a quote for re-pitch and paint for $375 from a place in Florida.

If fedex dropped the prop I was buying I would refuse shipment and let fedex worry about it.

My wife signed for it while I was at work. Unfortunately the damage was not obvious until the box was opened and the prop unwrapped that evening. It had been dropped squarely on its end. The only evidence on the exterior was a 1 inch cut made by the tip.

FedEx wants to come by, inspect it, and return it to the sender in Canada??? I've already paid for it so I'm reluctant to let anything go until I'm covered. All I want is to have it repaired.

Thanks for the input guys.

Claim is being made through the sender.

South Coast Propeller Services in Bessemer, AL came up in discussion. They are an hours drive away (I'd rather not ship it). Phone quote of $350 (includes re-pitching from 46 to 44).

Which is another subject I'll start elsewhere.

I got tired of fighting FedEx. Decided to call it a bad experience and I will use DHL or UPS the rest of my life.

Regardless ... South Coast did an excellent job. A big prop shop that seemed to enjoy having a fixed-pitch come in the door. Same day service too! Oh yeah, $100 for the repair.

Got mine back from Jim Fix last week. It is way smoother than the prop I took off that was done by my local prop shop.

After scouring this site for opinions, I just had the 76AK-2-46 re-pitched to -42 at South Coast. They re-pitched, balanced, tracked, painted, and yellow-tagged it for $250. It is one great prop.
