howdy,
picked up my neighbor dennis blankenbaker from willow,ak. at el paso, cramed my cub with gear and said adios,he headed west to phx. to see his parent's before heading north.
being just retired from flying heavy iron and not real handy with small hand held gps's i'am a little nervous as he get's ready to depart into the wild's of the northland, especialy when he asked where the flight director was at!
so if any of the super cub family spot's a wayward red & white super cub headed the wrong direction for alaska please try and redirect him in the right direction!
damnn i can't belive i turned him loose with my cub and next week i get to drive my truck and trailer up the alcan, something is wrong with my planning, anyone needen a ride to ak.yell, especially if your a fine looking female wanting to share expenses.

Anyone know what the name of this ocean is in Airazona? I think I better head a little bit to the right.
I plan to depart Falcon and go to the east of the Rockies to Edmonton will see how the wx looks. If any Supercubers want to join me JR knows my cell phone #. This would be lots of fun with some company.
PS
JR how do I turn on the auto pilot

roger,
thought a little on your comment last night, and your right on target, all of us that have had the privilege to fly are surely a bunch of dreamer's and it extend's past flying.
now if ag-pilot will come through with a co-driver it will be a lot more enjoyable trip,i can dream can't i ?

Boy I am having fun with JR's new cub. I am "flying low" :D so I get to see lots of neet stuff. It is amazing how fast a herd of antelope can run. There are some canyons in southern Utah that I would like to stop and look over but the only spot that I could land had one of those US Forest Service trucks parked in the middle of the parking lot and didn't give me enough room. Did you know that there are buffalo on Antelope island in the middle of Salt Lake, why didn't they call it Buffalo Island? I found two moose out in the middle of some of those lave flows in Idaho. Ya real moose- I got down and looked real close. And Montana can get some REAL wind I had a gs of 130kts. It was rough but fast. That is with a low gear prop and 31" tires. I am in Lethbridge AL. now might try to get in touch with Dieter tomorrow. Wish you could join me :drinking:

My x sister-in-law just turned 32 yr and wants to go to Alaska any way she can get there. She wants to leave Dallas TX because she was rejected trying out for the Cowboys cheerleaders. Seems she made a pass at the head coaches husband.
Her confidence has been shaken and she needs to find herself. She loves older men especially pilots of little planes.
You'll know her when you see her she is the only one with legs all the way up to her arm pits.
PS: Her phone number is available for $25

Jerry,
How much money have you collected so far? I hadn't planned on flying to Alaska but.....
Nope, just checked with the wife and she said I need to get the garden in shape and the lawn is needing mowed.

Jerry
I have $25 and Jr"s cub what's the phone #. I think Dallas is on the way to Alaska fron Ft. Saint John, BC isn't it. I may have to back track a little.
Steve what's a TRF?
I am at Dieter's house now. had a wonderful home cooked meal and good conversation. I may just get weathered in here for a while.
Dennis,
A TFR (not a TRF) means "Totally Friendly Route". The little red and yellow circles stand as an invitation for you to come and fly around. Try to hit them all, sometimes they can be a bit smoky if they are fire TFRs, but it is worth it...

durnn dennis you'd have to through out most of the survival gear and iv'e got the rear seat cushing,so even if you got her she would be real p.o. before you got to the next gas stop!

steve,
try one for yourself,i was told by faa mine was minor and would not be a major issue. the insurance i finally got didn't think so,four days to get the supervisor to appove and it wasn't cheap.all that just so dennis can flit around the north country.
they really think a 85 mph cub can be a threat to the president's safety, and that was 12 miles away.
jr.
Jr,
Hopefully everybody reads what I wrote as a tounge and cheek statement :o
While our vehemence may vary somewhat, you and I can certainly agree that interaction with authorities is to be avoided at almost any cost!

dana,
adventure i don't know, never been in jail before no matter what sj belives, grab some warm clothing and get over to n.m.,you can help drive my rig up and then stay till the airman's show, just a couple of weeks.you would be going with a confirmed terrioust though, but driving on 1200 miles of snow and ice will help to clear your mind, although i hope you wouldn't want to try going amphipious again,ah heck it'll be frozen any how!
see ya when you get here!

Whitehorse? get out of Whitehorse in a day, dont bet on it! :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:
Them ladies there are VERY friendly   and have no hesitation of showing the great pleasures of the Yukon
Now Jerry, I got about twenty guys here that would all pay $100 to have an evening with a nice Texas lady. So have her come up, we set up a little party at one of the watering holes and let her mingle... maybe get enough guys and a couple of extra ladies... we could buy some more toys for the plane!
Please don't introduce her to my son when he comes down for college this fall...
Good to hear he made it to Whitehorse. We had a nice visit with Dennis and I watched as he flew into the blue yonder from the airport in FSJ this morning.

Here's how you work it if your smart.
An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday
evening with a beautiful young gal at his side. He told the jeweler he
was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked
through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The old man said, "No,
I'd like to see something more special." At that statement, The jeweler
went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a
stunning ring at only $40,000" the jeweler said. The young lady's eyes
sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing
this said, "We'll take it." The jeweler asked how payment would be made
and the old man stated, "by check. I know you need to make sure my check
is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to
verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said.
Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in
that account."
"I know," said the old man, "But let me tell you about my weekend!"

I MADE IT. :o Good weather today tail wind to. What a fun way to get around. The wild Blue turned to snow just a few miles out of Ft. St. John. I had to follow the RR tracks all the way to the Sikanni Chief River. Once I had to take evasive action to miss a "mid air" :bad-words: with a train.
They should keep them off the tracks when we need them for LO LEVEL navigation. I met a Super Cub guy named Paul Mallory at Whitehorse. He is from Nome and going to Chandler AZ. to finnish up some flight training to go to work flying for a western Alaska flying service. He is a mech. and built the cub he is flying south. He is going into some nasty weather that I got out of. I gave him some phone numbers that he may need going south.
I got into a head wind at Kluane Lake and to get out of the turbulence I flew right down on the ice and learned that in ground effect I picked up about 10kts. on the gps and it was smooth. I went about 20 mi. across that big frozen lake and had to clinb to clear the pressure ridges. Kind of reminded me of my spraying days in a Stearman with big wheat fields.
I enjoyed it but if anyone has a cub to deliver in the next week or so call Ruidoso Ron, 8) my back side feels like it has a perminate super cub imprint.
Sure is nice to be back where you have to plug in your car to get it to start
and put on wing covers, and where long johns. Soon we will be slaping skeeters. I think I am about ready to go south and get another Cub.

dennis,
thanks for getting my cub back home,at least i think it's still in one piece.
got another brain storm, jump a smoker,i'll pick you up in el paso again and you can ride up and see it at ground level, but then you said you already been nearly on the ground! as dana said''the adventure continiues''
see ya in a week or so,thanks
jr.
