hey all, i'm looking at flying out to Appleton, wisconsin in the beginning of april for a wedding. its going to be in a C-182T, not especially fun, but i need to get there fast, so i should only need one or two fuel stops. just wondering of anyone can recommend some good places to stop at for fuel along the way, and generally what to expect weather wise in the beginning of april. thanks.

At the beginning of April, you can expect instability and turbulence -- or great weather -- but most likely bumpy. We are based at Minneapolis Crystal. Fuel is cheap here. We also have an apartment in our hangar, in case you need a place to spend the night. Transient pilots are always welcome.

John,
Is your hangar/apartment right there close to the Hotel, I think its called the American Inn. I stay there once or twice a year when a friend comes up to Crystal.
Also, What is the current price there on fuel? I will be back in April and looking to fill the tank I have in the box of my truck. Park Rapids, where I have my 172 hangared is normally pretty high.

Pella Iowa is a neat little FBO with a courtesy van. The windmill restaurant downtown is a good place to eat on a very pretty town square with lots of flowers, very pretty and I am thinking Wyatt Earp grew up there?.
Fremont Nebraska is also friendly and close to your route.
Ft. Dodge Iowa, towered and friendly.
Monticello Ia. has a Dairy Queen within walking distance.
Grinell Iowa, very friendly.
Vinton Iowa, self serve fuel, friendly cat.

It may be too far south of your path but Clinton , Iowa generally has the cheapest gas within 100 mi. CWI. It is right next to the Mississippi river on the Iowa side.
