I have the book "Piper Cubs" by Peter Bowers in his book it says the last J4 Cub built was December 11, 1941, and that it was a J4E. However my J4E was built May 12, 1941. Now what are the facts and what was the suposed serial number on that aircraft? Big Thanks to the folks that can answer that!

Since May 12, 1941 comes before December 11, 1941 I'd say that it is concievable that Pete Bowers was right!

According to Roger Pepperell (Official Historian for Piper Aircraft) in his book on Piper aircraft, the last J4, an E model was completed on December 11, 1941 and exported to Brazil. If I read correctly, all J4's produced after 1 Feburary, 1941 were E models (even though the TC a740 was not issued until 28 April).
