I am the fortunate owner of two new guns. Last week I acquired a Win. Pre 64, 300 H&H. Mfg. date was 1954. I don't think its been shot a dozen times. I knew the guy who owned it for the last 30 years or so. I think I'll take it to Africa and shoot antelope with it.

Gun number 2, is a Colt Single Action 1st generation 41 Colt caliber. It has been converted to shoot 22 LR. That could be a good thing if it was done at the Colt factory. It's a good job, so maybe that is the case. It is a six serial number, Mfg. date between 1901 and 1903, best I can tell. Do we have any Colt experts here?
I don't have my camera here. When I do I'll post some pictures.
I've been wanting a Colt SAA and a Win. 300 H&H for years. I'm a happy camper. I'm gonna fondle them every day or two. :D

TJ,
I'm all envy. Sounds like a nice pair to add to a collection. There is a research department that can give you history on the Colt. Not sure what the address is but I have had friends write them (costs a few bucks) and they get a letter back with all the information the factory has on the gun.
Good luck,
Keith

TJ,
The information Keith is talking about can be found here: http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/historical.asp

It's a pretty neat deal. I had one done years back on an old .32ACP pistol that belonged to my grandfather. All kinds of neat information, even who the original selling dealer was.

Thanks guys, preciate it.
I'll probably send Colt $100 buck just for the heck of it. I'd like to know if the 22LR conversion was done by them.
I saw one on a auction site which had been converted from 44 to 22LR by the factory. The price was $10,000!

I have read about the conversion but have never seen a factory version.
It would be interesting to know how they marked them.

New shootin irons are always fun..I just bought a nice little one owner Winchester Mod 70 [s/s] in 338 with the BOSS system. As good as I shoot it wont make a difference but it was on the end of the barrel and the rest of the gun was what I wanted. The scope is a Leupold 3.5 x 10 Var-x lll and brand new..the seller did nt like what was on there so my gain I guess.
Happy Hunting!

Tj, nice guns. I don't collect anything, not even money. I am married and I own an airplane so there isn't money for anything else. All the guns I have have marks on them from being drug through the brush hunting.
