SJ,
Any chance of organizing a Supercub.org fly by at AirVenture similar to the way they do it for the guys (and gals) from the sea plane base ? Just a thought. Would be fun and good exposure for the web site.
David,
This is an great idea, but I think we might be better served continuing to fly below the EAA radar (no pun intended). I am guessing there is CONSIDERABLE paperwork to do such a thing.
Maybe what we should do is have the worlds largest Super Cub formation flight and video it for posterity. Of course, if we do that, it would be a lot easier to do at Lake Hood since there are about 1000 Super Cubs tied down around it. Just call all the owners....

And maybe put Massey in charge of organizing.

David, OBW, I spent a week on the floats in Florida and enjoyed the
company of Brian Schanche of www.adventureseaplanes.com who was down for SnF with one of his floatplanes. He said to give you a howdy as he knows you from the Minnesota area. He takes folks, and leads caravans, into North Canada for fishing and floats.

I just called Gaston's this morning and booked a room with a view for
Saturday and Sunday - I'll leave for N'Olstn Monday.
I heard from Ron and told him I could carry him the rest of the way
if he got this far. Is Zack gonna make it again this year?
Lance

I have no reservation at Gaston's yet, but I thought if some of the cubbers were meeting there again I would like to make it. Sure would be fun flying up as a group.
My ability to make it will depend on how my Dad is doing so my plans will have to be flexible.

Well, since for one thing I've only been to OSH once before, and have never camped out there to get the "full airshow experience", that's my plan this year--looking to get there early enough to occupy a place in the Vintage/Classic camping area.
Oh, yeah, it ain't a Cub, either.......\
MTV
We will have all the details real soon!
1. Camping - there is a hotel in town.
2. Porta potties - a walk to the fbo gives you a flushy
3. Taildraggers of ANY sort park in the grass, nosedraggers are parked on the ramp, but are shuttled over by pack mule or jeep to camp and join the fun. More details on the WHY of this later.
4. Shuttle bus to OSH every day over in the morning, back in the evening. Mike V, you could have the best of both worlds.
5. Camping fees a little less but close to OSH, catered meals on the field, beer keg, camp fire, heck of a good time!

Can we park the 206 in the grass? Has oversized tires. :D
Jason,
SuperCub.Org folks are WELCOME to fly nosedraggers to the New Holstein fly in, and for many folks they have to because it is the only practical way to get there, but we do park them all on the ramp. It is not about tire size or getting stuck so much (although that is always a possibility), it is about trying to maintain a semi-cohesive grouping of similar sized aircraft and also, frankly, to discourage 10,000 people in 172's from converging on the fly in and usurping it (I don't loose sleep over this). Part of this involes when we go on flyouts, usually it is the cublike airplanes that are of similar speed that partake of these events. Some of the flyouts (washington island, etc) would be suitable for a 206, but I would say that unless you have REALLY big tires and good insurance, I would avoid the sandbar flyout.
The GOOD news is, that this year we will have a handheld or two and you will get excellent ramp service (well, you will tie down your own plane, but we will come over and pick you and your stuff up), and it is really not that far - just across the runway.
Before someone squawks at me about it, I will say that allowing amphibious supercubs (and even Huskys) to park in the grass area may seem contrary to the above policy. I would say that a 206 on amphibs would be wise NOT to park in the grass, unless it has duallys. Also, airplanes on straight floats or skis will be left wherever they end up :o (that was a JOKE! There is no provision for a waterway or fake snow at the New Holstein fly in).
In your case Jason, we may make a special allowance if you let us all fly around in the 206 and shoot approaches with the G1000, Kase will probably want to roll it a couple times, and Wilbur will want to make it do a tail stand.
We may amend this policy at some point in the future to have strictly a "supercub" parking area and then an "other" parking area. It just depends on how big it gets. We have been growing about 15 - 20% per year which is more than fast enough for my tastes. Nobody likes rules less than me (except maybe Cubdrvr) but as we get bigger, we have to make sure everyone is applying the same common sense in some areas.
Thanks!

Steve,
OMG. Ruidoso Ron just called and told me that he read that we can no longer bring Cub amphibs to the campsite. PLEASE let me know more about this as I may have to camp at the seaplane base and shuttle back and forth to N'Olstein. Or, I guess I could put the hardgear back on. Seems like a stupid law to make this late after we've been able to do it for years; but I guess you know what's best with that 172 problem.
Before someone squawks at me about it, I will say that allowing amphibious supercubs (and even Huskys) to park in the grass area may seem contrary to the above policy. John, we have access to the high school next door with nice showers and locker rooms, we run several shower shuttles in the mornings and sometimes in the evenings if people like. It is about 1/2 mile away.
We usually have the coffee ready by 6:30am, breakfast at 7:30 or so shuttle bus leaves for OSH at 9am and return at 5pm.

Ten minutes down the road is a Super Walmart doable with the camp
van. There you can buy anything from the tent to sheets to air
mattresses, tarps, and at the end of the week you can return it all for
a no questions asked refund if you are truly not satisfied.
Likewise there are grocery provisions at this Super Walmart but
I last year R Ron tried to return some liver cheese and milk but
they gave him a difficult time with it. So I guess you can return
hard goods but not groceries.

Look carefully from left to right. There is Africa with Madagascar just to the southeast. Following the black asian landmass you will see the horn of India sticking down, then Thailand/Malaysia sticking down and dribbling into Indonesia running to the right and there, on the bicep is Australia! If you look up the "east coast" of the black landmass of Asia you can see Japan.

NO you have to bring your own. I hope to have the info up by June 1. We are polishing it up right now.
There are lots of threads on tie downs, you might search for "the claw" with the search function and you will get a lot of info. There is generally one windy day/night, so it is good to have them tied down.

Well, I had planned on coming to New Holstein but while power washing my metal roof yesterday, I hit a wet spot and slid off the roof, couldn't stop and did my best plf (parachute landing fall). What I wasn't expecting was the slick grass I hit and my left foot slid out a couple of inches and therefore all my weight went on my heel. Crushed my left heel, have to have surgery, metal plates and screws, and cant put any weight on it for 3 months.
I am absolutely sick about it, hay season coming up real soon. I asked the doc if I could fly when I got a removable cast. He looked at me like I was crazy and said "You have got to be kidding", which I wasn't. I said I don't stand on it, I will be sitting down. He wasn't too impressed. We'll see.
Unless there is a miracle, I wont be there. I guess I will have to make it another time.

Hey Steve-
Anyone looking for a place to hang out prior to Sunday, is welcome to stop at Brodhead for our annual Pietenpol-Hatz Fly In.
There will be food, and camping available, and we are only about 1 1/2 hours south West of New Holstein.
Our fly in begins on Friday and runs through Sunday, but most everyone is bagging up to head to Oshkosh or home by noon on Sunday.
A great place to visit for anyone that hasn't yet been there!!
I'm sure that no one will have a problem finding someone to swap lies with.

If anyone is coming from or departing to the west and looking for a place to stop, we have an apartment in our hangar that is always open to transient pilots. It has a basic kithchen, shower, toilet, a half-decent bed and a couple of couches. There is also a pool table, dart board and TV with a pretty good stock of flying videos. We are at the Minneapolis Crystal field.
John & Dan,
Great ideas! Brodhead is a great little airport and not too far at all. BTW folks, that is 1.5 hours champ time, you can do it in 1.25 hours in a Super Cub... 8)

Them's fightin' words, buddy!
The Kick-Ass Champ (c) can stick with pert' near any Cub around. The exceptions, of course, are the 180s with constant-speed props (or girly cruise props) and (for some as-yet unexplained reason) Sodak's.
Brother Dan's Husky can even fly slow enough to stay in the same county as me, if he's on amphibs. All bets are off when he's on wheels, though.
On a regular day, I get about 90 mph on the GPS, and around 100 on the (wildly optimistic) ASI.
So there!

'Tis OK, Steve. I was funnin' you, same as you were doin' to me.
Last year, on the way to NH, Lurker12 had to throttle back in sodak's Cub to let me keep up. That's with a Borer prop and 31-inch Bushwheels!
In my defense, I'll add that the K-A Champ had only about 10-12 hours on a new engine, and too coarse a prop to get any power. I took 2 inches out of the prop and she now revs up to red-line in cruise quite easily. Imagine that; I flattened the prop and gained speed. Who'd a think?
Oh, yeah, on the way back, the lurker out-ran me 'til I lost him. Dead GPS battery, wildly inaccurate compass, and a lost SOB flier. I found my way home, though. My compass is now correct and I have a different GPS with a big external battery.

Dang, and I had just ordered a new champ!

We just returned from the fly-in at Snohomish, WA; met some great folks out there in the NW. We are just getting caught up on the New Holstein fly-in. We plan to fly up and spend Monday and Tuesday in Camp Schroller (or under our wing) and then come over to New Holstein on Wednesday afternoon for the Hog Roast. I, Charlotte, am looking forward to seeing you folks that I "interviewed" at the Red River fly-in. I'll share my notes with each of you to see if they are censored appropriately! Eddie is looking forward to minutely examining each and every Cub! See you all soon...weather permitting!

Anybody have any time with a New Holland bale wagon, tractor pull type?
Spent way to many days than I want to remember, pulling a New Holland Bale Wagon around. It was one morning while I was doing just that and a cropduster was spraying the next field that I decided to change vocations!!
