What if Napoleon had an atom bomb at Waterloo?...no that's not really the question, read on...

I know a lot of you folks here have more than one plane, and the 'my plane is better than your plane' threads got me to wondering. What if money was no object and you could afford a 'stable' of aircraft? What would that collection look like and what would your priorities be?

Here's my (current) list:

F-16D (Hey, a feller can dream can't he?)

SU-29 (I love aerobatics and round motors)

Maule M-6-235 (It fits my current mission and I like Maules, so sue me)

Schleicher ASG 29 (SuperSailplane)

Schleicher ASH 25 (Share the fun with a friend)

Piper Supercub (It's just a helluva lot of fun to fly, and it'll tow the gliders too)

DeHavilland Beaver (King size off airport fun)

The list goes on but I think I've run out of hangar space....

Editorial Note: If any of you guys and gals are wondering why the heck I would want an F-16D, it's primarily so I can get even with those Luke AFB F-16 pilots who keep bouncing me when I fly through the Gladden MOA...that and an occasional g-loc contest with the backseater.

if money were no object......

Hummmm...fantasy land....if money were no object....letsee...tough choices...

North American P-51 D Mustang w/ lots of spares
Grumman 1340 AgCat
Douglas DC-3 Basler turbo conversion
Cessna Grand Caravan with amphibs
(2) EXP 180 Supercubs with pods, Bushwheels, and wheelskis.

list subject to change :)
Randy

Ooooooh, a P-51D, I forgot about that one...though I think I'd rather have a Bearcat.

Fantasyland? Yup, but you never know...gotta be prepared ya know.

1. Experimental Super Cub 180hp (oh yeah, I'm building one)
2. Cessna 180 or 185.
3. Stearman in Navy colors
For the rest, now we're really dreamin!
4. Pilatus Porter
5. Malibu Meridian or TBM or
6. CitationJet (or similar single pilot biz-jet) to go places with family
7. Grumman Albatros - the ultimate SUV/RV/Boat
8. L-39, TA-4, or T-38 - gotta get my jet pilot fix because I never did it in the Marine Corps.
9. Ok, P-51 or P-40. You can't have a list like this and not include one of them.

Now which lottery should I sign up for?

if someone else bought the fuel....
new King Air 350
new Pitts S2C
late 70's 185 on Whipline anphib's (I live in the desert)

1.P51 2.Newer low time 18 150 h.p,still keep my 180 hp 18A. 3.185 happy with the one i got. 4.Helio (been looking). Not interested in fast planes,as they are dangerous when the fan quits.I would risk it for the P51 once a week or so.

dream

All the ones listed and also a DC3 and flying fortress and since
im in lalal land on of each in each category ,that way id have a new
one to fly every single day of the year ,id need a crew to keep all these planes running but in lala land its all possible ,i only wish

1) Rebuild my cub
2) Pitts S2-C, it aerobatic and more than capable
3) P-51/P-38, duh
4) Huge stack of 1st class airline tickets, its a lot easier to worry about an airline having a mech. than to fixing your own.

I would rather have 2 mill in tax free bonds and a 40 footer in the eastern Caribbean and the time to sail it half the year.And,.,,, Hang out with all you people in the summer flying season.
Neat fantasy though.
cheers

Actually, winning the lottery for me would be to get the TIME to fly the planes that I have now. My problem is I like almost every airplane I fly, but time is the thing that I have started to value most, and it seems, the thing I have the least of... *

sj

* My wife would say it is money I have the least of.

Kinner Fleet

A herc, eh? The means to carry all your other toys to far away places?

Apparently a lot of you guys like warbirds. I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable here...but why do I keep nervously looking over my shoulder?

yo

Yeah- I see them land in Nome all the time. Sure seems like they land those hercs short for as heavy as they are...pretty cool.

Tgorn needs a herc to haul his liver around in!!!!!!!!

C-185:
1. Bell 206
2. A-Star
3. Turbine Beaver
4. Another 185, mine will be timed out in 8 years
5. Re-build on my cub
6. Cessna 206

The list is just way too long!!!!!

Ok, here's my "dream fleet"....

For pure aerobatic fun – Pitts Model 12

For long-distance, exotic adventure – Grumman Mallard

To satisfy my warbird cravings – North American T-6

Antique biplane (everyone needs a vintage biplane) – Waco ZPF-7

Do-everything overall workhorse – Cessna 180

Alternate, bigger do-everything bird – Beech 18

Helicopter (gotta have one!) – Hughes OH-6A

Absolute showstopper unique antique – Lockheed Air Express

To fill that small corner of the hangar where nothing else fits – Cassutt Racer

these aircraft, and the necessary infrastructure to support them, would satisfy me quite nicely, thanks! :)

Joe

You're right, Joe, squeezing an air racer into the corner is a great idea.

Critical Mass has a folding wing, doesn't it? I wonder if I could squeeze it in there somewhere? Might be time for a bigger hangar.

For Me:

Sukhoi SU-31

Pitts Model 12 or Skybolt "R"

Radial Rocket

Turbine Beaver on Floats

Pilatus model 21 for my long cross countries and just feelin' like a fighter pilot for a little bit. :D

Turbo 185 for trips to Idaho.

Cessna A-37

If money were no object...:

1. Beaver
2. My PA-12 rebuilt by someone who knows what he is doing
3. Hawker Hurricane
4. DH-60 Moth Major

5. A whole lot of fuel, time to fly, health to keep my medical, good weather to fly in and - most important - less burocrats to make insane rules that makes it impossible to fly wherever and whenever I please.

Obviously keep the 185 and finish the Cub.

Water toys… PBY, Albatross, Mallard, Beaver.
Noisy Toys… Lavochkin LA-9, Bearcat, T-6, P-51, F4 Phantom.
X-Cntry Toys… A-26, B-25, Beech 18.
Leisure Toys… J3, Pitts Model 12, N3N.

There’s probably a good private jet for cross-country jaunts but I wouldn’t have a clue what it is…

I think so! But you need a little bit bigger corner for Critical Mass than for a Cassutt!!

Personally, if I were going for THAT kind of racer, I'd pick Rare Bear. Gotta love those Bearcats!! :D (Critical Mass is pretty darned cool though.)

Cheers!

Joe

Sukhoi SU-26 'cause it sounds like a little Bearcat
SPAD 13
SE5A

Amphib Beaver
PBY 5A

Hey,
Anyone remember Kermit Weeks?

From what I understand (Interpreted as "a friend of mine said") that many qualified pilots asked him if they could fly his airplanes out of there when hurricane Andrew blew through Florida. He refused, and the hanger fell in on several of our "Dream Planes" destroying them forever.
