Greetings from the sunny South fellow Super Cubers.

I'm in the process of installing a new muffler on my Lyc. O-320-b2b. While doing so, I've found several exhaust stack mounting blocks where the female threads have stripped out.

I would appreciate some ideas about how best to get the new studs, that I plan to order today, installed that will both do the job and comply with FAA standards. 5/16"-18 studs.

Much obliged,

Mike

If the hole is too wallered out for standard studs, you can get oversized studs . Be sure to set the helicoil with Locktite.

Thanks much. The holes seem to be round, but stripped. Where can Locktite be purchased?

I've found Locktite at auto parts stores. I think they have a high temperature version. I'll check today when I go to my hangar.

We do helicoils in the small Continentals all the time, but a sharp acquaintance said that Lycoming does not support them - I cannot imagine why, unless they just like to sell new cylinders.
