Thanks for "posting" that. WOW!!! Their style is different than most U.S. Very aggresive, and losts of skidding maneuvers. And . . . I wonder if the young lady likes Cubs? I think I would even stand in-line for her autograph.

How does she do that without a chin strap for her headset on most of it?
Damn near a religious experience. Thanks ..........

Actually, if you watch closely, you'll see she has a chin strap. She is a very, very talented flyer, but not THAT talented :D . I LOVE watching that stuff. Thanks for the link!
Her low total time is a result of doing virtually nothing but aerobatics. The Eastern bloc folks learned to fly overhead their airfields and almost never went anywhere else, or did anything else. Because of that, when Sukhoi originally exported them they had to add fuel tanks to the wings to give it some range.
The very high roll rates, and precise roll control achieved at low airspeeds is at least partially due to having something near 18" of inboard aileron inside the prop arc and prop blast. It's an amazing design. Imagine a Cub with that kind of roll and rudder control! Look at how long the Sukhoi stick is too - lots of leverage.
Another cool thing is that the seat is reclined, and the rudder pedals are about level with the pilot's heart to help with the GLOC  problem. The rudder pedals actually have straps on them to help keep your feet in place with high negative loads and allow you to pull on the rudder as well as push.
What a gas it must be have those things to play with!!

Mmmm Take the best of Russian engineering- Titanium ribs, titanium landing gear and titanium exhaust, AKA Sukhoi 31.
Vedeneyev M 14PF 400 + horsepower radial, with a 100" geared prop.
Plus a wide super cub body.
= the ultimate experimental super cubski.
What i'm watching after 57 re-runs is the expressions on their collective faces.... No game here. Very close to the ground and they know it. I flew low-level ground support in prop jobs in Nam, but I think that they are braver than I. Hope they survive.......

The guy in the red and maroon Extra who loves to slip is none other than Peter Besenyei. Who the hell is he you ask? He's the Hungarian airshow hero who put together the Red Bull Air Race concept. His picture's in the new Air & Space mag in an article about the Red Bull. Pretty wild stuff. Last summer, in Budapest for the first Red Bull Air Race the start and finish required flying under a 25' high stone bridge!! :yikez: :yikez: Thou Shalt NOT Screw Up!

I always wondered what it looked like to fly under a bridge during a half cuban eight. I never wondered what it looked like to fly through a little teeny hole in a mountain! Wow.
