I took off in the Cub this morning to make my usual rounds looking at the Mississippi River and Lakes in my area. Made several water landings took usual alligator, logger head turtle , etc. pictures. On the route back to my home base I was flying about 300 feet over the river 200 yards from the bank and I saw my first shark this far up. I am about 90 miles north of Baton Rouge but more like 275 river miles from the Gulf. I have read that they have actually been seen dead on the bank of the river at Memphis Tenn.
I all ways doubted this however until today.
Anybody else seen one that far up a fresh water river??
J Huff,

I have always heard that Bull sharks will travel into fresh water up river. These sharks live in the gulf as well as many other seas. This is the first firsthand account I have heard.Very interesting! Thanks. Also they are fairly agressive and have been known to attack humans.

RCharles,
I got a call at lunch today from a fishin buddy in Baton Rouge. He told me that the coastal conservation club in Louisiana had a photo of a 4 footer caught by guys fishing for those giant catfish just North of Natchez Mississippi bridge last year. This is about 10 miles south of the spot I saw the one Sunday. I will ask him if it was a bull shark.
