Float-Cub Pilot (poem)

Life Long Alaskan
Tail-wheel Cub flying in spring, sure was a blast,
Out in the Boondocks, with smells of old fabric and gas,

Now my Cub has extra struts, a pump and a paddle,
And on slippery Edo floats, have I either fallen or straddled,

So now my taxi's are called, either Idle or Plow,
And instead of a takeoff roll, I 'm "on the Step", now,

So farewell to the pavement and easy-taxi self serve gas.
My new landing places, look like a mirror of watery glass.

As for strips of gravel and mud, or the occasional grass,
Well, for the rest of the summer, please kiss my ass,

When the fall has expired, I'll think of tail gear and big tires,
Until then over the waters I will roam, For I am a Float-Cub flier.
