Hi Folks, Thanks for all the help with my fuel can questions. I have just purchased a 56 Super Cub that was totally restored in 93 and has been used exclusively on floats since then. I have not seen the gear as of yet but was told that it is the original and was not part of the restoration. So for all intents and purposes I consider my cub to be wheel-less. I have been fortunate enough to get my super cub training from Andover Flight in NJ and I believe his cub has 26" alaska tires with 3" extended gear. Since my knowledge is limited and I am starting from scratch I am looking to set my cub up to allow growth into some bush flying in Maine and New Hampshire. Anyone had experience and or suggestions on my options? Thanks again for the help.... John

John:

The old Goodrich wheels and brakes (the 8.00 x 4) are terribly expensive to repair. Were it my Cub, I'd replace everything with new Clevelands. The STC is very reasonably priced, and the wheels cost a fraction of what you'd pay for replacement Goodrich components. The entire kit should be available for around $900 from several sources - Aircraft Spruce, Wicks, Wag-Aero, Desser, Cub Crafters...

I bought a set for my J5 project from Aircraft Spruce. They advertised at the time that they'd match anyone's price. Cub Crafters had a special sale at the time, so I got mine for $725 - without the STC, as I was going experimental.
