wood spars /flaps

If a person was building experimental using wood spar j-3 wings,could pa-18 flaps be added to these wings?I have seen pa-11 and pa-18-95 planes with flaps and they perform very well,but never a wood spar cub.Is there a problem with this?The reason for doing this would be strictly cost.Thanks in advancefor any info.
