I ran across a cub this week that lost compression on a cylinder. On looking it over the valve springs were both broken. The exhaust in 4 places and the intake in 2 places. I've never seen this before.........anyone else?
Be nice to know a little more history on the engine. how many overhauls, record of springs being replaced, that cyl replaced at different time than rest etc. I can see reusing springs in a rare hard to find parts for engine if they test ok, but last time I checked, springs for the 0-320 were fairly cheap. But I suppose even new springs with a manuf defect could break.
I wonder what the valve clearance was on those 2 valves? I have seen bent pushrod tubes from this, maybe it wasn't enough to bend the tubes but over time broke the springs from over compression?
