Hi All,
As I continue to look around for parts for my PA-18 experimental project, I have become very curious as to what parts of a Wag Aero SS or 2+2 Cub are interchangeable with a experimental PA-18?
Tail feathers? Controls? Gear? Panels?

Anybody know of the compatibility? I do plan to call Wag Aero too.

I talked once with a guy locally who built a wag (pa18) and tried to mount store-bought cub wings to it. He said he had to modify the attach fittings to do it.....

My dad built a 2+2, used Supercub wings, tailfeathers, landing gear. The controls, panel, firewall etc are all different.

I spoke to Tom at Wag Aero. He said the only thing that is interchangeable with PA-18 is the Sport Trainer BALANCED tail group. The rudder is the J-3 profile instead of PA-18 though. Their tail group kits seem reasonable in price.

It is true I built a 2+2. And I used PA-18 wings but I had to modify the fuselage to accommodate the 18's aileron control system. And of course add a flap control system but followed the 14 routing. The major difference for the elevator is that wag-aero used a trim tab on the trailing edge of the elevator and of course I installed the jackscrew.

If you buy all the PA-18 tail group parts from Univair, Dakota, etc.. it costs around $2K. If you buy the Wag Aero Sport Trainer tail group kit (unfinished, balanced) and then add a PA-18 rudder it's around $1100. I might go that way.

An update to my post. I spoke to Tom at Wag Aero and was able to do a custom order for the Sport Trainer balanced tail group kit and delete the rudder. It came out to $675. All I need to do is add a PA-18 rudder. Anyone have one? I'll probably just get a new one from Airframes.
