I received my used set of Husky flaps for my new Super Cub wing project today thanks to Steve Pierce. I stripped off the cover and to my surprize I found that they were riveted together with steel pop rivets. The aluminum structure and steel rivets were not painted. As you can imagine all the rivets were severely rusted and this was a boarder patrol aircraft down in the dry southwest I presume. I can't believe that Aviat was so cheap not to use conventional aluminum rivets or at least paint the structure. I think that this could be a serious problem for those of you Husky drivers out there on floats. I really appreciate the quality that Piper put into the Cub!
