The future of flight

S

StewartB

Something to think about on a Sunday morning. It has been slightly less than 100 years since the Wright brothers flew the first powered airplane. Now, NASA has a spacecraft approaching Saturn, with a probe that will actually land on a cloud-shrouded moon of Saturn. What an evolution in less than a century. Here's a link to NASA's general aviation area. It can be argued that our government indeed is interested in preserving and promoting general aviation. GA will have to adapt to a changing world, but it won't go away.

The history of flight is hard to believe. The future of flight is hard to imagine.

Stewart great topic. The future of aviation is indeed quite bright though it will continue to face challenges just as it has through the first hundred years. However consider that 100 years ago we were just begining to face the reality that we could leave the ground. 50 years ago we began to leave the earth. 30 years ago we landed on the moon. 20 years ago we had a reusable space vessel. Today we have civilian groups attempting to create a reusable space vessel and from recent news reports several of those groups are getting close to launching. http://www.xprize.org Its amazing what has been accomplished in those 100 years. I can't wait to see the next hundred. On a similar note is anyone planning on (or lucky enough) visiting Kitty Hawk in December for the Centenial Celebration?
