How does a 150 horse PA22/20 with standard wings do on floats. Until it's converted to a taildragger, I'm not too wild about a TriPacer, but one of my airport buddies today said that a TriPacer actually makes a pretty fair floatplane. I realize that it won't have SC performance, but is it at least OKAY?

DA,

With a healthy engine and a Borer prop, it'll do okay. Okay assuming you have a fairly decent sized water body to operate from (4,000 feet plus is best, but slightly shorter if you keep it light), good pilot technique, a clean, straight set of floats, and you keep the loads reasonable.

These airplanes really like a little more wing, but they'll do okay if you stay intelligent.

the Borer prop is pretty essential, for decent performance.

They make a reasonable 2 place airplane, on floats. - Steve
