View Full Version : The SCOPA Survey: "I feel strongly both ways"

Hey supercub.org people:

I'm not sure how many of you have had a chance to review the results of the big "future of supercub.org" survey that we did recently, but it has provided me some very useful information. First, I again appreciate the time many of you have taken to fill out the survey, and to give me your honest feelings and sugguestions for "not screwing this thing up".

As I read through the survey there are definitely two camps of people.

1. Supercub.org is a cool place to hang out, but not a type club
2. Supercub.org should be a type club for supercubs.

I must tell you that I agree with both camps 100%, and I believe (subject to having sense beat back into me by you folks) we can accomodate both wishes very neatly.

What I am proposing is as follows:

1. www.supercub.org is going to stay pretty much the same as you see it now, from the respect of free access to all people on the earth, etc - and I do mean all people, even Husky drivers.

2. If you make a donation of $25 or more per year to supercub.org, you are eligible to be a member of The Super Cub Owners and Pilots Association, which is a super cub type club. You DO NOT have to own a Super Cub to be in this group, and you can choose to donate $5000 and NOT be a part of it if you like. The choice will be yours, but there will be added benefits to being a part of that group (like another weiner that says "scopa member", access to membership information, etc, more details later).

So, how does that sound? Reasonable? Unreasonable?

Your comments are appreciated!

sj

P.S. Let's focus on the concept here, not the gory details. I have some pretty good plans for maintaining privacy, yet keeping commuication going so bear with me on that.

sj.......you have done a remarkable job in everything I see you touch, and I have every confidence in the direction that you lead ( you are the BIG KAHUNA, ya know) this group. The growth of sc.org has been phenomenal in just over a year and a half........and with you at the helm ( or should I say stick) I know the organization will be geared toward everyone that has an interest in cubs. I agree wholeheartedly with your request to bear with you regarding any details and to focus on the concept. A big THANKS for initiating and maintaining Supercub.org.........it has become an intregal part of my daily interests and I have learned so much from the rest of you guys who live in your airplanes and are willing to share your knowledge and experiences. It makes us all better and safer pilots.

sj,
We say you've come up with a good solution.
It keeps SuperCub.org an open forum (great site for pilots of any type) and gives an incentive to join SCOPA for "member only" info on Super Cubs.
Keep up the great work oh rainbow leader!

Steve,
Sounds a great idea, caters for everyone.

Ever thought of working to the UN in you ?spare time? ?

What ever you do don?t form a committee ( we?d still be trying to agree a background colour for the front page).

Thanks, but I think I'll pass on that one, in fact, anything more I would say on the subject of the situation in the world would have to move to the rant and rave section...

Steve, I noticed in the above posts and often in the past, several posts of a personal nature. This is not a big deal but an occasional reminder to use the PM for this would be nice so this rest of us (especially those without the benifit of a high speed connection) not to have to wade through a lot of chit chat.

Steve, what kind of benefits would membership have? Like, would fly-ins be members-only? Certain sections of the website be members-only?

I like the idea of a type-club, and I like the SCOPA name. Thanks for bringing us up to the next level!

Anne.
P.S. Hi to Dana! Has she started her flying lessons yet?

Not being a Super Cub owner until next weekend, I will keep this short.

I have been reading a lot of comments on this site, learning and laughing a lot and enjoying the photos very much. There are a lot of folks who are not as fortunate as those who own a Super Cub who can enjoy the conversation of those who do. Keeping the site open to everyone is a way of sharing a common interest in aviation and in the Super Cub.

Where do I send my $25........

Crazyeyes,

Click on the "supporters" link on the home page for the address, etc.

Congrats on the implied super cub purchase!

It is kind of like that bumper sticker about fishing:

Even the BEST day at work is not as good as the WORST day in the Super Cub...

Uh oh Mark, now we're both in trouble! But hey, getting in trouble is half the fun, right? Next year for sure!

"Flying a Husky he is either crashed or fixing something on it." -- actually Diggy, I've been so busy out west teaching SC drivers how to fly safely . . .

"Matt is dredging for Gold in them there creeks" -- Yep, now in Fla to pick up the bird and back out west to film for a month. Got a new favorite state . . . Washington! Tim you oughta get out to Oroville, a lot of opportunities for filming out there (a little to far for me on this trip) in that vicinity. Spent a lot of time at the rally there looking around for film locations for next year. Some pretty impressive canyons to fly up and down (ala the Mississippi in "Ferry").

Well -- off in that super gas efficient ultra reliable go fast go slow do anything . . . Husky.

Check is in the mail Steve (and I want my weiner to say: "HUSKY" -- much more manly than "Cub" in my opinion . . .)

See you guys in a bit, hope to have some real good footage to share.

Matt

Matt,

Welcome back! Sounds like you have been busy.

As for the husky wiener, I thought they were rather red and skinny...

Well, you got the red part right . . .

http://www.treasuresites.com/Husky6.jpg

I understand you're now in the market for an additional airplane . . . Whatever you do, DON'T BUY YOUR WIFE A HUSKY, it's embarrasing to have her run rings around you in public . . .

See you on the return Steve.

You guys all fly safe.

Matt

Darn, now we are going to have to buy ANOTHER airplane...

And what's the problem with that?? Now you'll be able to bring all sorts of stuff to the fly-ins, and all in one trip! Go for it, Dana!

Anne.
