dana,
I'm pretty hard of hearing, i can hear the sounds, but most don't make sense, unless i am looking, lipreading, or its somthing expected, heck, most loud shouts mean DUCK! i did switch to the digintal hearing aid, and it helped, they can adjust it to either get a sound from close or far with the touch of a button on the hearing aid, its adjustable like a graphic equealizer on a quality stereo, really neat! i operate with a license that says, not valid where raidio use is required, learning to fly was funny, i had a 140, and on the t/o and landings we were trying to look at each other so i could understand what was going on, and that made some pretty interesting moments for both of us! :o

Dana,

Thanks for the links to some interesting sites. For those of us who were fortunate or unfortunate enough to have operated R-985's prior to the widespread use of headsets, hearing loss is a daily issue.

My wife sometimes makes faces when I turn the TV up sufficiently to hear. Apparently, she thinks I'm trying to cause similar hearing loss in her.

Thanks again for some interesting sites.
