I took my oldest daughter up in a J-3 for the first time today. She loved it and wants to learn to fly it. Color me happy.

I have 5 kids to show the world of flying to...ages 6 thru 12.
Hope I have a great as outcome as you did.
I think being interested in flying from an early age has been one of the greatest positive life experiences I have ever had.
