"Tracks" for Cubs?

Some time ago...I was watching "The year in history: 1950(something)" on the "HISTORY CHANNEL"
There was a 15 second film clip on a new development for airplanes....."tracks" for off-runway operation.
Somebody had invented a new landing gear that took the place of tires...and substituted an endless belt with bogie-wheels for suspension....much like a modern snowmobile track. They were test flying them on a Cub.
Evidently the invention didn't realize much success...because that is the only place I have ever seen them pictured.
Has anyone else seen that film strip...or were there ever any of them put in practical use?
I have seen a Herky C-130 on tracks in pictures.....

I think there's a pic in Pete Bowers book on cubs. I know they tried it on several aicraft. I have a picture of a track set up on a B-36. Must not have worked out to well on airplanes....since you don't see them around.
