I just bought one of those nifty little 1 lb Halon fire extinguishers. Where's the best place to locate it?

I mounted it on the right side panel under the instrument panel. I have the map pocket so I used it as a doubler. You could make an angle doubler for the back side to reinforce the thin side panel. I tried places in the floor but it always seemed to be in the way.

I mounted mine in the same place as Steve's. No other place for it really.

You can mount it to the aluminum headliner, if you have one. Or the wing root panel, if you have room. I like to mount things high so they don't get kicked around. If you mount it on the forward end of the headliner, you could still reach it from the front seat.

Mine is at the forward part of the headliner, on the little vertical panel at the back of the skylight. It's visible, out of the way, and I can twist around and reach it from the front seat.

I would be reluctant to put a fire extinguisher above and behind my head. When it comes loose in a sudden stop or a rough landing you are not going to be happy.

It would take a lot more than a hard landing to knock mine loose, in which case I'll be more worried about what is in front me.

I have the small disposable Halon in my own Cub. It has a very strong mount and takes a pretty hard pull to get it loose. If I hit something hard enough to knock it loose, having something roughly the size and weight of a full beer can thunking me on the back of the head will be the least of my worries. (Not suprisingly, I have recieved many sharp blows to the head over the years, the doctors, and many others always remark how amazingly thick headed I am).
