Stripping gear legs and wrapping bungees

I recently crunched one of my bungee fairings and instead of repairing it, I think I'll just strip my gear legs and put on the leather bungee covers. Anyone have advice on doing this? Where can I purchase these leather covers?

Murph, you can get them form Stoddards in Anchorage, I believe CC has them and or you can do like I did (make your own out of vynil and a couple of snaps! I will photgraph mine and post them on the FTP site. give me a day or two!

I have never had fabric on the gear legs (just gets in the way) might slow you down a mile or two--that is a good thing it is easy to shoot going slow!!
