View Full Version : Little Orange Balls
Does anybody have a source for those orange plastic balls or other markers that work well on power lines? It is a small low level line that is HARD to see!
Thanks!

They are available in Trade a Plane. The trouble is, the local power companys useually charge a fortune to put them up.
This is a private home wire just about 10' above the runway.
Thanks!

The power company (rural) north of town actually hung a couple of colored plastic jugs on a line adjacent to the approach end of a farm strip.

A fellow here bought a couple and asked Detroit Edison to put them up. They gave him a hard time about it. He wrote back a letter stating his case and that he would be keeping a copy of the letter to give to anyone who might hit the lines in the future. .................... They came out and put the balls up. gd
Gerald,
That is a good tactic! Thanks for the info!

Same here, called NIPSCO here in Indiana. Told them I had the strip now with their 35ft wires and had two Tana Ball Markers. THey said leave em on the porch and our guys will put them up. Next day it was done. Couple years later a storm dislodged them to one side against the pole. A phone call and left them two rubber friction bands from Tana. Out the next day, no charge.

I don't remember the name of the company that has been advertising in Trade-A-Plane for years, but I do remember the headline in their ad: "Your Balls Saved My Life"
